The City of Northampton is working to create a Community Resilience Hub to support residents who face chronic and acute stress due to natural and human-caused disasters, climate change, and social and economic challenges
Community Action Pioneer Valley is the lead agency managing and coordinating the Community Resilience Hub
Community Resilience Hub
Will support the daily needs of those experiencing houselessness and extreme poverty
Will support connection to services
Will support the community members during time of disaster and acute stress
Will provide a regular meeting and event space
Will help address climate change, enhance community resilience, and support our communities to become more self-determining, socially connected, and successful long-term

In June 2023, Northampton Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra signed the purchase agreement for the former First Baptist Church building. See Press Release HERE
In February 2023, The Community Resilience Hub was awarded a Community Recovery Projects grant of $450,000 funded by Northampton’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) by the City of Northampton.
In December 2022, the City of Northampton’s Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra announced that she has executed an option to purchase the former First Baptist Church building located at 298 Main Street for potential reuse as the Community Resilience Hub. In the first phase of the project, the City hired Jones Whitsett Architects to coordinate Hub space planning, with city, social service, and civic partners. Planning the Northampton Resilience Hub- (click here for report).
